Junior High Writing Workshop
Course description: In this course, students will learn how to produce well-developed paragraphs. Students will develop skills in writing on a variety of topics, current events, books and/or stories read, as well as improve sentence structure and grammar. As students become more proficient in writing paragraphs, they will then write the standard five-paragraph essay. Because of the amount of writing required in this course, students will write in the classroom as well as have assignments that must be completed at home.
Instructor: Mrs. Beth Moore. Mrs. Moore holds a B.A. in English from Samford University with a minor in history. She has an M.A. in English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She has seven years of teaching experience at Pelham High School where she taught General English, Advanced English, and AP Prep English classes. After leaving there, she taught Composition 101- level courses at UAB and Composition 101- and 102- level courses at Jefferson State Community College (Shelby Campus) until the arrival of her first child. She has taught at Chelsea Tutorial for one year. She is married and has four children. She is an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church where she currently teaches the "Kingdom Kids" class as well as oversees the Children's Media Center.

Tuition: $150 per semester
Required Materials & Text: Students will need a 3-ring binder notebook with notebook paper. They need two 9x12 brown Kraft clasp envelopes. The instructor will provide more information later about the text to be used for the class.
Class Minimum: Minimum of 5 students. If class minimum is not reached, class may be cancelled. A maximum of 12 students will be accepted.
