Self Defense for Girls
Teen Girls Self Defense Class
Course description: This class will focus on practical self-defense dealing with real life scenarios faced by young ladies of high school or college age. We will discuss some mature subjects. The class will meet only in the fall semester and would be suitable for partial PE credit.
Instructor: Sensei Becky Givens has been a martial arts instructor for 7 years, including karate classes for all ages and self defense seminars for women and teens. She holds the rank of Nidan (2nd degree black belt), with the title Sempai (standing teacher) in Shingo-ha Yoshukai Karate. She has 4 children and has homeschooled for 17 years.

Grade Level: 9th grade through college, 8th graders may be admitted with instructor approval
Credit Value: partial credit
Registration Fee: $25 nonrefundable (applies to tuition)
Tuition: $100 tuition
Supply Fee: I will order practice pepper spray kits after the class starts, these cost about $15 and can be paid when I order.

Building Use Fee: The semester building use fee for this class is $10 fee per student, not to exceed $100 per family. This fee is payable to Grace Presbyterian Chelsea on the first day of class.
Class Minimum: Minimum of 6 students. If class minimum is not reached, class will be cancelled and registration fees will be returned.
Required Text: Students will be required to read The Gift of Fear, by Gavin DeBecker.
